This week he finished his second mural, ‘X-Ray of a Wolf’, painted at the historic cross section of Haight and Ashbury Street. The wolf mural was curated by Chris Shaher for Wallspace with the help of Fifty24SF Gallery and Montana Cans.

]]> “TRANSLUCENT FEAR” – Zürich (CH) https://nychos.com/portfolio-item/translucent-fear-zurich-ch/ Wed, 25 Sep 2024 15:02:51 +0000 http://test.nychos.com/?post_type=avada_portfolio&p=250 Pushing off of an impressive body of work in which he explored all possible varieties of dissections and cross-sections, NYCHOS spent the past months working on a new process to reveal skeletal structures in his paintings. Using the visuality of X-rays, the artist radiographs his creatures by replacing their skin with glowing translucent shells.

”Translucent Fear” marks the beginning of a new creative phase for the artist and consists of a series of canvases inspired by an intense period of outdoor work. Back in the studio, NYCHOS adapted a technique, that he has been developing with the spray can to a different medium to create an entirely new visual language.

This language is powerful, mystical, and gloomy and runs like a golden thread throughout the whole exhibition – just like this resurrecting stroke of lightning, that brings life to the artist’s creatures. Metallic bolts illuminate discrete colors, and as always, NYCHOS brings in some eighties influences. Electrified by this immense energy, it is impossible to walk through without imagining the endless sound of heavy guitar solos.

These drawings represent the ideas, concepts and experiments by Nychos that help guide him to create even more anatomically accurate and detailed pieces.

These artworks show the importance of his attention to anatomical details in his work: the correct position of the bones, organs and skin are key to creating his realistic cross-sections, dissections or translucencies, and to achieve new levels of detail and artistic madness. Nychos puts countless hours into his anatomical studies and this is reflected in the works exhibited at Juddy Roller.

The museum-style exhibition includes more than 100 artworks by NYCHOS, which are arranged in an entire storyline. It is a journey into the deepest depths of the artist’s soul, beginning with retrospective elements that lay the ground for the entirely novel body of canvases presented in the center of the exhibition space. Further, the show includes three-dimensional works, NFTs, elements of augmented reality, and interactive installations.

Overall, THE AWAKENING describes the transformative process that NYCHOS has been experiencing for the past few years. A process, that has started deeply within to surface by the means of art.
